Pitch 3 · The honest gate

Is this trip yours?

On this trip you climb as your own independent party: no instruction, no supervision, no guiding. I sort everything around the climbing; the climbing is yours. Check yourself against the list — honestly.

You lead WI3/WI4, or you climb solid multipitch trad.
You have your own ice kit — or know exactly what to hire.
You're happy choosing your own routes, and retreating from them.

The booking form asks for a short climbing CV, and I review it before your spot is confirmed. If it's not the right fit, your deposit comes straight back — one click, full refund.

Pitch 4 · The photography

Go home with proof.

A professional photographer is on the ice with you all week. You go home with 50+ edited photos of yourself and the crew film.

Pitch 5 · Who's running this

Host, not guide.

Sascha, host and photographer

Sascha — twenty years climbing, professional photographer and film-maker, organiser of the January Écrins trial. He runs the house, the food, the plan and the cameras. On this trip, nobody runs your climbing.

On guided weeks, certified IFMGA mountain guides — the highest qualification in mountaineering — run the climbing at a maximum of two climbers per guide on ice.

Pitch 6 · The January crew

They came back.

Pitch 7 · Practical questions

The details.

Fly to Turin, Grenoble or Marseille, arriving by 4pm Saturday. We collect you and everything from there — airport runs, all in-resort driving — is on us. You never touch a hire-car form.
A full kit list PDF comes with your booking confirmation, plus a hire list and local shop links. Hiring technical kit in Briançon is straightforward.
All meals are cooked for the group, crag lunches included. Allergic to anything? The kitchen takes this seriously — we ask at booking.
Whole house to ourselves, shared twin rooms. Most guests come solo; no single supplement.
£200 deposit at booking, balance eight weeks before departure via an emailed payment link. Full-payment option at checkout if you prefer.
Summary terms are in the booking conditions, linked before you pay. If we ever cancel a trip for group numbers, you hear by the date stated in your pre-contract information, with a full refund.
Mandatory: travel insurance covering ice climbing and mountain rescue (including helicopter evacuation) for the full trip dates. We check policy details before departure.
